Horley Meeting 28th April 2017 @ 7.30pm

STOP PRESS:

The resolution passed by Horley residents on 28th April (see below) was debated in May at a full meeting of Horley Council and unanimously adopted.

THIS MEANS IT IS NOW OFFICIAL HORLEY TOWN COUNCIL POLICY TO:  “Lobby the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to reverse its current position, and return Gatwick departure Route 4 (whether using new or conventional navigation technology) to the geographical position and dispersal pattern it occupied prior to 2013 (where it had kept the peace for decades in all communities north of Gatwick, with negligible complaints about noise).”

We pay tribute to the Councillors who unanimously supported the resolution and will be ensuring that we support their efforts in acting on it.

Horley Town Council invited the public to their meeting on Friday 28th April 2017.

This included a presentation from Andy Sinclair, Head of Airspace Strategy & Engagement at Gatwick Airport Ltd.

Residents at the meeting made it clear that the problem of overflights of Horley by vectored aircraft was far from solved, as had been claimed by Gatwick, the CAA and Council officers, and that there was no room for complacency.

Residents also passed a resolution calling on Horley Town Council to lobby the CAA to return Gatwick Route 4 to its pre-2013 legacy position.

All the residents’ votes cast at the meeting were in favour of the resolution, with none against.

The Council officers will now decide in May whether to make the residents’ resolution Council policy.
